\nOn\u00a0Saturday I bought a winter hat that I had eyed for some time now. \u00a0It is a Russet Plaid\u00a0Tweed Bugatti Kangol that I bought\u00a0at my local hat store, Al’s Men’s shop<\/a>\u00a0on Fulton St in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. \u00a0Last time I bought a hat there was when shopping for my wedding in August of 2008. \u00a0Their stylish lid selection is unmatched in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

This tweed cap is 60\/40\u00a0wool & polyester so it is very soft. My new\u00a0cap is distinctly British yet was made\u00a0in Italy. \u00a0The ear flaps are\u00a0very important in a winter hat since I have large ears that often get cold. \u00a0I tried on at least 3 other hats before I was certain that this one was “the one”.

My new hat style is similar to a wool\u00a0winter\u00a0hat I had over a decade ago.\u00a0I believe I bought that one at Irish Design Center<\/a> in Pittsburgh, PA. \u00a0I lost that hat at the 2004 Whitney Biennial in a dark room featuring the seminal artwork of Anthony McCall<\/a> “Line Describing a Cone” 1973. \u00a0It is a 30 minute film loop of a white line being drawn on black. \u00a0Smoke added\u00a0to the room extrudes the light coming from the projector into a cone. \u00a0I sat in that room for almost the entire duration,\u00a0I took my\u00a0hat off and lost it in the dark and I have regretted it ever since. (I imagine a savvy museum patron walked away with it.) \u00a0Finally I have a replacement that I will cherish for years to come.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
